Categories chosen from evidence
Before choosing, we note which categories the current leaders for your main searches have picked. You end up with one main category and a handful of secondary ones, each a fair description of real work.
For a great many searches in Burlington, Ontario, the decision happens inside Google Maps. Suggestions such as “burlington walk in clinics open today”, “restaurants burlington ontario open now” and “burlington nail salon that accept walk ins” are questions a profile can settle on its own: the hours, a booking link, one line about walk-ins. When the profile answers well, the person taps call or directions. When it is blank or wrong, they move on to the next pin.
Timing matters more than most owners expect. The Sound of Music Festival fills Spencer Smith Park every June, and Canada’s Largest Ribfest draws about 175,000 people over the four days of Labour Day weekend. Downtown parking, patio hours and road access all change on those weekends, and visitors search “spencer smith park events this weekend” and “downtown burlington parking” from their phones. A profile that mentions longer hours or where to leave the car earns the visit.
Weather has its say too. The city averages about 99 cm of snow a year, and a heavy rainfall can keep trades and restoration firms busy for days on end. Whether you close early in a storm or open longer to keep up with calls, the change belongs on your profile the same day, so the map never sends someone to a locked door.
Search demand
Google.ca suggestions from October 2026. Each one points at a profile field: hours, attributes, location or a short update.
Read the endings: open today, open now, wait times, accept walk ins, hours, saturday. None of them is about ranking in the usual sense. They test whether the profile tells the truth at the moment someone looks. So the first month goes into hours for every day and holiday, attributes, the pin, categories and the phone line. Ranking work follows once those can be relied on.
Where to look first
Listed in the sequence we work through when an account is new to us.
Family Day, Victoria Day, Canada Day, the Civic Holiday, Labour Day, Thanksgiving: without special hours, Google may show your usual times or warn that hours might differ. Either way, some customers decide to stay home.
Plazas along the Lines and on Fairview Street often have several entrances, and automatic placement can drop the marker at the back of the building. Dragging it to the customer door and adding the unit number spares people a lap of the parking lot.
If you take walk-ins only on certain mornings, or book online only, that needs to sit in the description, the attributes and the booking link. Otherwise the first thing a new customer learns is that they turned up at the wrong time.
After a move from one plaza to another or a change of owner, the earlier profile often survives. Reviews split between the two, and people dialling the old number reach nobody. It has to be reported to Google as moved or closed.
A storefront photographed in July can be hard to recognise behind snowbanks in January. Exterior shots from more than one season, plus the entrance and the parking, tell a first-time visitor they have arrived.
The work
Before choosing, we note which categories the current leaders for your main searches have picked. You end up with one main category and a handful of secondary ones, each a fair description of real work.
Regular hours, statutory holidays, festival weekends, patio season and storm closures, changed on the day you tell us. You send a quick message; we update the profile and the website together.
Walk-ins, online booking, accessibility, parking and payment details filled in wherever Google offers them, because people here filter on exactly those things.
Short Google posts ahead of the big downtown events, a new service, or a seasonal change such as patio opening or winter hours, so the profile looks looked-after.
A simple link or printed card for customers, and a reply from you to every review, warm or critical, usually within the week.
If a member of the public proposes an edit, a second listing appears, or calls and direction requests suddenly dip, we notice within days rather than after a holiday weekend.
Done carefully
The standards we hold ourselves to on every account, set out in writing.
If Google suspends the profile, every review and every call from it disappears overnight. That risk outweighs any quick gain.
Adding “Burlington” or a string of services to the business name, listing a home office as a storefront, or trading a discount for stars can work for a little while. Then Google catches it and the listing vanishes. We follow Google’s published guidelines, so the ground you gain stays gained.

How we work
It begins with a close look at your listing and website and settles into a short monthly report you can read over coffee.
We read your website and listing closely, then check what a searcher sees from Aldershot, Downtown, Millcroft and Burloak.
We agree with you which searches are worth winning, then decide whether each needs a new page or a profile edit.
Profile, pages, content and directory clean-up, beginning with whatever is likely to pay off soonest.
Each month you receive the calls, form messages and positions we tracked, along with the plan for the next one.
Questions
Set special hours for those dates ahead of time; they revert on their own afterwards. A short post the week before, mentioning the extra hours and where customers can park, gives the change some visibility as well.
No. Businesses that go to the customer, such as cleaners, movers, snow removal crews or mobile mechanics, can hide the address and set a service area instead. List only the neighbourhoods you really cover, whether that is the whole city or just the south end.
In three places: the business description, the hours (with separate walk-in hours if Google offers them for your category) and the top of your website’s contact page. Wait-time questions come up a lot here, so clarity saves both sides a wasted trip.
Distance is only one factor. A more complete profile, fresher reviews, better-matched categories or a stronger website can outweigh being a few blocks closer. Setting the two profiles side by side usually shows which gaps you can close.
Set special hours or a temporary closure on the day, then reopen the profile as soon as you are back. If you are a trade that gets busier after storms, add a short update saying how far ahead you are booking, so callers know what to expect.
There is nothing extra to pay. Profile care belongs to local SEO, and local SEO comes in every tier, from Starter at $300 a month up to Pro at $700, with Growth at $500 between, all in CAD and without a long-term contract. Hours edits, new photos and review replies are covered.
